Information for Members and Governors
Developing a representative membership is very important to our organisation. Our members will help to develop our future plans. Please sign up as a member and become part of the future of the Trust.
At present approximately 5,500 members of the public and patients have signed up as members, as well as 8,000 members of staff.
If you sign up to become a member the main benefits are:
- Showing your support for your local hospitals
- Keeping in touch with what is having at your local hospitals by receiving a regular newsletter
- Giving you the chance to give your views and influence decisions
- Giving you a vote on who you would like to represent you on the Council of Governors
Membership is free and our members can be involved by receiving our member’s newsletter. Some members may want to be more involved by taking part in consultation exercises or attending events. In addition, some members will become Governors and represent members at the highest level of our organisation. Membership can take up as little or as much time as you wish. It is a way for you to be more informed, give your views and for us to become much closer to the community we serve.
Governors
Members who want to be a bit more involved can stand for election as Governors.
A Governor is a voluntary role and brings the voice of patients, the public and staff to influence decisions in the Trust and for your local hospital services.
We need to have a Council of elected Governors from our membership. The Council of Governors will scrutinise the Board to ensure that it is acting in best interests of the people it serves.
It you would like to be a Governor it should not take too much of your time – you will be required for meetings every couple of months and need to read regular information from the Trust. If you become a Governor you will be making a valuable and rewarding contribution to your local hospital.
If you are already a member and would like some more information on becoming a governor please contact us either by telephone (01482) 675165 or email foundation.trust@hey.nhs.uk.
The organisation cannot hold elections until we are authorised to do so. Once we have been told we can proceed with the elections further information will appear on this page.
