Radiation Physics Department...

In 1946, a hospital physics service was founded at the original Hull Royal Infirmary in the centre of Hull, and since 1966 the Radiation Physics Department has been based at the Princess Royal Hospital on the eastern edge of the city.

The Radiation Physics Service provides scientific and technical support in the fields of

  • Ionising (x-rays, etc.) and non-ionising (lasers, UV, MRI, etc.) radiation safety
  • Diagnostic imaging physics
  • Radiotherapy treatment planning
  • Radiotherapy equipment management
  • Radiation metrology
  • Research & development
  • Teaching & training

In 2008, the service will move to a new oncology & haematology hospital based on the Castle Hill Hospital site to the west of Hull.
